Resting Place of the Hummingbird

 (pronounced um-un-um)

The fourth-highest peak in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California 

 Elevation : 3,488′ 

The mountain is situated in Santa Clara County, California. southeast of Los Gatos and south of South San Jose.

The peak is a well-known landmark in the Bay Area which can be recognized by the 5 1/2 story concrete radar tower  atop the summit of Mount Umunhum

Most of the mountain is within the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve.

How Hummingbird Got Fire

Mount Umunhum gets its name from the Ohlone tribe 

The Hummingbird is a central figure in the Ohlone tribes creation story and an important part of their culture.
